Toward standardization in arthropod and biodiversity genome projects
Published in GENETICS, 2026
The authors review standards across seven stages of arthropod genome projects and survey 100 genome papers published in 2024. They identify gaps in sample documentation, assembly curation, quality reporting, annotation, and database submission, and call for more consistent reporting to improve comparability and reuse.
Relevance to FAIR bioHeaders: The reporting and reproducibility gaps described here motivate recording consistent metadata and provenance alongside reference genomes, the problem addressed by FAIR bioHeaders.
